A letter from camp

  • by

Dear Mom & Dad (& Jammerz);

HELLO FROM SUMMER CAMP!

I am having a great time at summer camp with Jeph. I’ve caught up with old friends and made some new ones. We’ve been chatting about old times and discussing upcoming plans. They have a lot of exciting new music and I look forward to hearing more in the near future.

Andre has been zig-zagging all over the province with the Giants, performing for new and old fans alike. I really don’t know how they find the energy to fit such action packed shows on such a constant schedule. I was recently able to catch one of these shows and I suggest you all do as well. Follow Andre Pettipas and the Giants on social media and you’re sure to find a date near you.

Jeph and I also met Rock Johnson from nearby Debert. It was cool to discover he has been part of so many projects over the years and it sounds like he won’t stop any time soon. His latest solo effort really demonstrates his range and you can get your own copy on Bandcamp for only 5 bucks.

I’d suggest checking out all our guests on Bandcamp and as an added bonus, the next Bandcamp Friday is quickly approaching. All funds go directly to the artist for any purchases made those days. If you don’t already have an account (https://bandcamp.com/ ), do it now and load up your Wishlist for purchases on the next Bandcamp Friday, September 3, 2021

Mackie’s new album, Route 237, dropped and it is her best material to date! I hope to catch her live soon. If you’re a rap fan or even just want to support a local artist, you can check it out here: https://mackie.hearnow.com/

It was also great to catch up with Steve and Matt. It’s been a while since I have seen either of these gentlemen. Their individual solo efforts seemed to have ramped up over the pandemic and we at Jam Sessions are excited to hear what Grooveback may have in store for us over the next year.

Joe and Walter were locals I knew of through mutual acquaintances and I am a fan of their band Hard Ground. It was a treat to put faces to the names and I had a great time hearing about the old days in Ontario and learning about their varied contributions to the music scene since.

Recently we spent an evening with KT and Kim from Like A Motorcycle. As a long time fan, it was a dream come true to have them as guests. We had a special addition to the production crew that evening as well. Bob Fraser was the perfect addition and provided us an opportunity to capture a full video from that session. I can’t wait for everyone to see it 🙂

I’ll be taking an episode off, while Jeph catches up with a couple special guests. In the meantime, I’ll be researching more upcoming guests and working on some cool new ideas for the podcast. For now, I am off to give myself a crash refresher course on video editing AkA Arts & Crafts!?! Wish me luck and I hope to hear from you soon too!

Best Wishes,

Darcy Walsh
